Matthew Szymanski

Matt’s day job consists of designing houses in North Carolina. His other passions are to paint and create.

He’s lived on the open plains of Montana with endless sky, the Piedmont forest of South Carolina with endless columns of Loblolly Pine trunks, the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains with twisted roads and twisted wind wound trees, the harbor at Vancouver, Canada with endless activity reminiscent of a Richard Scarry book moving in front of a backdrop of majestic mountains, and now the diverse, though sprawling “Triangle” region of Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill. Each of these places has had a great impact on how he creates.

Currently, Matt’s obsessions include over-sized Biblical illustrations, converting everyday snapshots of people to Renaissance saints, creating 3D architectural miniature cities that cling to the wall, and dripping landscapes of tinted poly-urethane onto wood boards.

I like what you’ve done with the place. Also let me say that I have a whole new set of painting that’s Biblical in proportion. That’s kind of a pun, but they are huge pieces of some of the more epic personalities.

Thanks Matt! Still working on a few pieces. Get me the images of the new stuff and I’ll update your page (or just expand the gallery)!
